Bob Etchingham
CEO
Bob had a vision for the forecourt industry when he set up Petrogas in 1992. After many years working as an economist to the industry his decision to strike out on his own was prompted by a deep understanding of where the industry needed to go. With the creation of the Applegreen brand in 2005 this vision really began to take shape and the company has since gone from strength to strength, culminating in Applegreen being awarded the contract to operate Irelands first motorway services in collaboration with the NRA.
Corporate Social Responsibility
The establishment of Applegreen Charitable Fund in 2009 signalled a clear long-term commitment by the Company to Corporate Social Responsibility. Since then Petrogas Global’s desire to give back something to local communities and organisations has become an inherent part of the Company’s culture.
Applegreen’s Charitable Fund raises valuable funds for its chosen charities by donating one cent per transaction on all shop only sales, all combined shop and fuel sales and all aCafe sales in Applegreen sites (excluding fuel purchases, tobacco, lottery and baby food).
Petrogas Global takes a partnership approach to the relationship, supporting the chosen charities at various events. Petrogas Global staff volunteer their own time, and the company promotes the charities’ fundraising events in Applegreen stores and on its website.
Petrogas Global encourages employees to organise activities on-site to supplement the company’s Applegreen Charitable Fund. This additional fundraising activity has the added benefit of being fun for both staff and customers alike.
